Bagisto v2.5.0 is its biggest release yet, with a command palette, real-time notifications and PostgreSQL support.
- First, it adds a command palette, real-time notifications, and Amazon S3 and Cloudflare R2 storage to the admin.
- It also gives Configuration its own Search Engines section and a lighter, reorganised layout.
- In addition, every image and file setting, in Configuration and on products alike, now shares one upload tile.
- Finally, it adds PostgreSQL support and the EU Omnibus historical-price feature, and fixes a long list of issues.

Overall, these changes in Bagisto v2.5.0 make the admin quicker to work in, your configuration screens clearer, and your store ready for PostgreSQL.

New Features in Bagisto Version 2.5.0
A Command Palette, Opened With Ctrl+K
- Bagisto v2.5.0 adds a command palette. Press Ctrl+K, or Cmd+K on a Mac, from anywhere in the admin to open it.
- It searches your menus, your configuration settings, the actions you can run and your records, all from one place.
- You can also walk it step by step, from a section to a page to a record to what you can do with it.
- It shows only what your account can reach, so it never offers a shortcut to a locked screen.

Real-Time Admin Notifications
- The notification bell now updates the moment an order comes in, instead of waiting for your next page load.
- Turn it on by connecting a broadcast driver in your environment and running Bagisto’s notification worker.
- Until then, the bell keeps working the way it always has, refreshing on each page you open.

Amazon S3 and Cloudflare R2 Storage
- Your store can now keep its images and files on Amazon S3 or Cloudflare R2, alongside the local disk it already supports.
- Pick the driver in Configuration → File Management; the local disk stays the default if you change nothing.

A Dedicated Search Engines Section
- Configuration now has its own Search Engines section.
- It gathers the engine, the search modes for each part of your store, and the connection details your chosen engine needs, in one screen.
- You used to set these only in your environment file; a connection test now checks them before you save.
- A migration carries over whatever you already configured, so you lose nothing.

A Simpler Page for Settings That Don’t Need the Usual Controls
- Some configuration pages, such as About, don’t need a channel switcher, a locale switcher or even a save button.
- Those pages can now hide whichever of those controls don’t apply, instead of showing them regardless.
- Saving one of these pages now works out its own channel and locale, rather than expecting you to pick them.

One Upload Tile for Every Image and File Setting
- Every image and file setting in Configuration now shares one upload tile, with its own replace, and delete actions.
- This replaces the old bare file input and delete checkbox, whose preview used to sit well below the field it belonged to.
- Deleting a setting now removes its stored file along with the value, instead of leaving it behind.

Product Images and Files Get the Same Tile
- A product’s own image and file attributes now use that same upload tile, in place of a bare file input.
- You get the same preview, replace, download and delete actions you already have in Configuration.

Updated Magic AI Models
- The model lists behind every Magic AI feature now offer each provider’s current models.
- That includes GPT-6 Astra, Claude Opus 5, Gemini 3.8 Flash and Grok 4.7, and drops the ones each provider has retired.
- A storefront feature saved on a retired model moves automatically to its provider’s recommended replacement.

Omnibus: Your Lowest Price, Shown Automatically
- #11209 Bagisto v2.5.0 ships an Omnibus package, built for the EU Omnibus Directive.
- It records a snapshot of every channel’s price, and keeps the last 30 days of them on file.
- The moment a product carries a discount, its page shows the lowest price it actually sold at over that window.
- This keeps a discount honest: you can no longer raise a price just before a sale to make the cut look bigger.

PostgreSQL Support
- Bagisto now runs on PostgreSQL as well as MySQL and MariaDB, picked like any other database when you install it.
- Every query now goes through a layer that speaks whichever database you chose, so the same install works on all three.
- This change sits underneath the admin and the storefront, so it has no screen of its own to show here.
Improvements in Bagisto Version 2.5.0
A Newer Foundation Underneath
- Bagisto now runs on the newest version of its PHP framework, on PHP 8.4, with its testing tools and several core libraries updated to match.
- The admin, storefront and installer screens move to the newest version of the styling system behind them.
- A component built into the framework itself now processes images, in place of the separate library Bagisto used before.
- The driver setting for it has moved to a new configuration file; a store overriding it by hand should check the new location.
- The admin now draws every icon the same way as the rest of its styling, rather than from a separate icon font.
- This release renames a few number-named icons to something readable, and drops the ones nothing uses any more.
An Engine-Agnostic Search
- Bagisto’s search now runs through a design that treats every search engine the same way underneath.
- This is what makes the new Search Engines section possible, and makes adding another engine a smaller job in future.
A Reorganised Configuration Menu
- Configuration itself now runs in this order: General, Magic AI, Sales, Catalog, Customer, Email, Search Engines, File Management and Cache Management.
- The Buy Now toggle and the My Cart settings have moved out of general settings, onto the pages they actually belong to.
A Local Dev Environment That Runs MariaDB and PostgreSQL Too
- Bagisto’s own Docker-based dev environment can now start MariaDB or PostgreSQL, not only MySQL.
- It can also put an nginx, Apache or OpenLiteSpeed server in front of it, each as an optional extra.
- It now runs on PHP 8.4, keeps its search data across restarts, and uses the official MySQL image.
Updated Production Docker Images
- The ready-to-run Docker images now come in a PostgreSQL version too, alongside the existing MySQL ones.
- They build Bagisto v2.5.0 by default now, and let the bundled database use its own current authentication method.
Security Hardening Across the Codebase
- This release applies the fixes an AI security audit of the codebase found, on top of its ordinary fixes.
- It also carries across every fix already released on the 2.4 line, listed in full in the 2.4 changelog.
A Few Renames to Know Before You Upgrade
- Storage directories are now plural and consistently named, with a product’s downloads and a return’s attachments sitting under the record they belong to.
- A migration moves your existing files for you.
- Every hyphenated route name now uses underscores instead, so a custom link built from the old name needs updating.
- This release writes every translation key that still used underscores with hyphens instead, across all 22 languages.
- A module or theme overriding one of those keys by name needs the new spelling.
- Breadcrumb trails now live inside the storefront package, not a separate file.
- Delete your own copy of the old file on upgrade, or every trail on your store registers twice.
Bug Fixes in Bagisto Version 2.5.0
Magic AI Fixes
- Fixed Magic AI taking its instructions from storefront text, where a review or a customer’s name could steer what a translation or a checkout message returned.
- Bagisto now sends whatever a shopper types as plain data, never as part of the instructions themselves.
- Fixed a generated checkout message rendering as raw markup on the order success page.
- Bagisto now closes the review-translation endpoint to anonymous use while the feature is off, rate limits it, and caps its length.
- Fixed Magic AI hiding why a generation failed; the provider’s own message, such as a rejected prompt or a bad key, now reaches the admin.
- Fixed Magic AI handing a retired model to the wrong provider instead of reporting it as unavailable.
Theme and Storefront Display Fixes
- #10816 Fixed theme section images breaking when your store’s domain changed or it used a remote disk.
- Bagisto now keeps an upload as a reference rather than a fixed address.
- Bagisto has removed the two migrations that used to rewrite these paths; there is nothing to convert on upgrade.
- #11467 Fixed three storefront loading placeholders sitting at the wrong size for the control they stand in for.
- #11466 Fixed the category Load More button collapsing to half its width the moment you clicked it.
- #11465 Fixed a stray slash appearing after the last crumb on every page carrying breadcrumbs.
- #11464 Fixed a pair of unused colour circles showing under the price on list-view product cards.
- #11442 Fixed blank space below the product page, caused by a sizing class the new styling system reads differently.
Account and Navigation Fixes
- #11447 Fixed a stray pair of arrows sitting in the middle of the storefront account listings.
- #11423 Fixed the storefront order details tabs staying on their loading placeholder instead of showing content.
- #11422 Fixed the product page tabs doing the same, for the same underlying reason.
This release also includes further automated security fixes.
In short, the fixes in Bagisto v2.5.0 close real gaps and keep Magic AI on the content you actually gave it.
They also tidy up a long list of storefront and admin rough edges.
Conclusion
- Overall, Bagisto v2.5.0 is its biggest release yet, built on a newer foundation throughout.
- It adds a command palette, real-time notifications, and Amazon S3 and Cloudflare R2 storage to the admin.
- Configuration gets its own Search Engines section, a lighter layout, and one upload tile for every image and file.
- It adds PostgreSQL support and the Omnibus historical-price feature, which keeps a discount honest.
- Magic AI’s model lists are current, and this release fixes the security and display issues it found.
- Above all, Bagisto v2.5.0 gives you a faster admin and a more honest storefront, on the open-source platform.
